It must have been difficult to imagine fifty years ago that the James Bond franchise will not just survive but flourish and become bigger over fifty years. James Bond has completed fifty years on the silver screen and Christie’s have announced a special event to celebrate the occasion. They are calling it “50 Years of James Bond – The Auction”. They are making it a grand event with a load of Bond-memorabilia being put on sale. The sale will be unique as all the items on sale will come direct from the archives of EON Production. A total of forty lots will be offered for an online only auction.
Memorabilia From All 23 Bond Films Will be on Offer
The auction will open on 28th of September and will close on the 8th of October. The forty lots will cover some item or the other from every official Bond film ever made. Over the years many actors have played the iconic character of the British secret agent but the franchise still enjoys a truly international fan base. The auction will feature memorabilia from all the 23 James Bond films and they will be accessible to one and all across the world. The selection of articles has been done in such a way that you have something available at a wide rangs of price points. The lowest reserve price is as low as £50.
Global James Bond Day Will be Celebrated With a Live Auction
The auction is sure to see mass participation. The auction house has also committed that that the proceeds from lots 1-15 and 17-40 in the online auction will benefit UNICEF. The proceeds from lot 16 will go to The National Youth Theater. The auction will also celebrate October 5, to mark ‘Global James Bond Day’ with a live evening charity auction. The participation in the evening event will be through invitation only and will feature ten ‘star’ lots that offer James Bond experiences, as well as handpicked highlights from the EON Archives. There will be something from the film Skyfall which is the latest James Bond film which is scheduled to release worldwide on October 26, 2012. The proceeds of this auction will benefit ten individual charitable institutions. The live auction will be held at Christie’s South Kensington salerooms in London.
