Maldives as a luxury destination has matured and has attracted the best in the hospitality industry. There is a long list of big names from the industry who have a presence in the tiny nation made up of islands. Luxury giant Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) is a new entrant in the island nation as it has decided to open a resort hotel in Maldives. According to a report carried by TTG Asia daily the French conglomerate is set to expand its presence in the hospitality sector. They already run a boutique hotel in St Tropez, France which features eight exclusive suites, each with its own individual interior design by Jean-Michel Wilmotte and Cheval Blanc Courchevel in the French Alps.
The New Resort Will Consist of 46 Luxury Villas
Their boutique hotel is called White 1921. The suites-only hotel has become very famous for its restaurant known as Le 1947 which serves traditional Alpine dishes with a contemporary twist, created by three-star Michelin chef Yannick Alléno. Another exclusive feature of the hotel in the French Alps is an in-house Christian Dior boutique and a Louis Vuitton shop that stocks the very top end of the portfolio they offer. The new resort that is coming up in Maldives will consist of 46 luxury villas and the construction is going on in full swing for a scheduled opening in 2013. The resort is located on the island of Randheli in Noonu Atoll.
Global Fashion Brands Adding Hotels to Their Portfolio
Maleeh Jamal, deputy minister of tourism, arts and culture is excited about the new development and believes that it is another example of tourism innovation that Maldives has become famous for. The global brands in fashion industry are increasingly getting attracted to the hospitality industry and feel that it makes a good fit into their overall portfolio. Bulgari has a separate division called the Bulgari Hotels & Resorts and it has announced plans for a brand new property in Shanghai that is scheduled to open in 2015. Missoni is another brand that is expanding its hotel business aggressively and are in advanced stage of planning new hotels in Oman, Turkey, Brazil and Mauritius. However, Maldives is an ideal location for a luxury hotel that carries the brand name of a fashion label.
