Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi to Open a Vegan Restaurant in San Fernando Valley

The vegan bandwagon is attracting big name celebrities and is gathering speed. It is a trend that has become irreversible as more and more people are changing their diets with a vengeance. And to meet the changing demand pattern, like the Las Vegas restaurant, Hollywood requires more vegan restaurants. Amongst the Beverly Hills estate the Real Food Daily and Hollywood hangout Cafe Gratitude has just initiated a fad but vegan diet is more than that now and the need of the hour is to have many more vegan restaurants. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are known vegans and have taken the plunge to create a new vegan restaurant.

The couple is investing with singer Chrissie Hynde and producer Steve Bing in a new vegan restaurant. The new restaurant will be located on Ventura Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley. Since Alec Baldwin and Bill Clinton have jumped on the celebrity vegan bandwagon, the concept has gained much publicity and people in general are becoming more aware about the benefits of a vegan diet. Perhaps in preparation for the new restaurant DeGeneres launched a new website in August called Going Vegan with Ellen.

The site offers recipes for animal product free dishes. Additionally it provides answers to frequently asked questions. It has interesting information about celebrities who have gone vegan. The latest updates had information about Mike Tyson and Lea Michele. Tal Ronnen, the renowned vegan chef will prepare the menu for the new restaurant. He is the author of the cookbook The conscious Cook and had prepared meals for the much publicized 21-day vegan cleanse undertaken by Oprah Winfrey in 2008. Waldo Fernandez who has done interiors for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and L.A.’s Soho House will be designing the interiors of the restaurant.
