You can always trust Karl Lagerfeld to come up with an idea that is completely out of the box. Some years ago, he designed a fly fishing rod that cost a whopping $20,000. Earlier this month, he made news for his limited edition cute-as-a-button Coca Cola Light bottle. The fashion powerhouse has come up with a new fragrance this time around. And the new fragrance is inspired by another of his favorite things – books. So, with some help from book publisher Steidl, Lagerfeld has created an interesting new perfume, one that is going by the name of Paper Passion.
Any booklover will agree that the smell of a new book is indescribable. Only time will tell whether the new Karl Lagerfeld perfume will be able to match up to that experience, but we will certainly be keeping a watch out for this one. Perfumer Gaza Schon is behind the perfume itself. It is being reported that the fragrance contains a “fatty nuance”. Apparently, Steidl supplied Schon with samples of printed and unprinted paper to help with the formulation of the new perfume.
In the meanwhile, what is attracting a lot of attention is the packaging of the soon-to-release perfume. Apparently, it will be ensconced within a hardcover book, whose inside has been hollowed out. As of yet, there is no news of when the Karl Lagerfeld perfume will release however.
This is by no means the only book-inspired fragrance to hit the market. But given that it has Lagerfeld’s name on it, booklovers and fashion fiends will be looking forward to this one.
