Exciting London Deals For The Royal Wedding Weekend

The great royal wedding is just over a month away. VisitBritain, the nation’s tourism authority, has estimated that the Prince William-Kate Middleton wedding could attract over a million international visitors, not including the millions who will follow the wedding over the TV, the Internet or via wedding-special applications. Given the craze over this much-awaited royal wedding, British Airways is offering a special royal wedding weekend package from 27 April to 1 May. This deal includes coach fare and hotel accommodation in 2- to 5-star hotels for three nights. Fares start from $1096.50.

Getting accommodation in London during the wedding weekend won’t be easy. Plus, the average 5-star will cost £650 ($1,000) per night plus 20 percent VAT. However, some properties are offering reasonable rates. These include One Aldwych in Convent Garden. Guests can avail of the “Modern Romance Royal Wedding” package for £465 ($744) a night. The latter includes accommodation, breakfast and dinner for two, a mini wedding cake and champagne in the rooms upon arrival. The hotel will be screening the wedding ceremony. Plus, there is a royal feast in store at the hotel’s Axis restaurant.

London’s newest luxury hotel, Corinthia Hotel London, will open to guests from 16 April. With wedding weekend rates starting from £495 ($792) a night and with the hotel’s being a stone’s throw from the Whitehall marriage procession route, the Corinthia is ideal. On 29 April, you can head over to the Ritz for a royal wedding brunch at £150 per head. Here you can watch the proceedings over a leisurely brunch and champagne and take home an exclusive keepsake.

Alternatively, you could catch the big-screen telecast on Cunard’s luxury ocean liners. And get into royal party mode with a grand royal wedding ball. It is celebration time after all.
