It is one of the biggest annual fashion events of the year. Yves Saint Laurent will be launching its much-awaited Spring/Summer 2011 Manifesto on 5 March. The global launch of the S/S Manifesto will take place across six fashion capitals of the world. These are Paris, New York, London, Milan, Tokyo, Los Angeles and Hong Kong.
The intersection of Wyndham Street and Queen’s Road Central will act as the main distribution point in Hong Kong. Distribution will begin from 5 March and the first 1,000 lucky people will get a custom-designed cotton Yves Saint Laurent Manifesto tote bag as well. The area from Central to Causeway Bay, Wanchai and Tsim Sha Tsim will also become distribution points. If you can’t make it, however, log on to the Yves Saint Laurent site from midnight on 4 March onwards for downloadable Manifestos.
The S/S 2011 Mainfesto will mark the eighth edition of this publication. Each Manifesto is a celebration of the latest collections from the Yves Saint Laurent brand. The Yves Saint Laurent Manifesto was the brainchild of the luxury brand’s creative director, Stefano Pilati.
Pilati says that he came up with the concept of a Manifesto so that the luxury brand could appeal to a broader demographic that is not a part of the highly privileged classes. He termed it an effort to bring the message from the catwalk to people on the street using environmentally friendly paper.
Model Arizona Muse will be featured in the latest issue of the Manifesto. The photography credits go to established fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Almost half a million copies have been published for distribution across the six chosen cities.
