These days, it is quite commonplace for celebrities to come up with their own fashion lines. And sports stars are no different. These days, they have everything from sneakers to gym wear to treadmills to their name. But Jean-Claude Killy is not the regular contemporary sports star who finds himself hounded by the paparazzi. In fact, a little known fact is that the skiing superstar has his own line of luxe ski wear.
A little background on Jean-Claude Killy might be in order. Killy was one of the stars of the 1968 Winter Olympics. He won all three of the ski events there. Thereafter he moved on to a variety of other jobs. Killy has doubled up as a stuntman for James Bond movies. He has appeared in ads for Rolex. This ski star has even raced sports cars. And what is more is that Killy made GQ’s list of the 50 most stylish men of the last 50 years. That is a lot for one man.
Killy’s fashion brand is based in the French Alps. Its main focus is to create garments that are elegant, comfortable and high on performance. Garments from Killy are essentially very practical outfits. At the same time, Killy ensures that these garments are made from cutting edge fabrics, use great cuts and colour, and have several French designers working on them. It is about bringing Killy’s unique style to the clothes.
Killy has recently merged with French outdoor group Lafuma. Hopefully this will signal greater success for this high-on-style brand whose tagline is “Beyond Performance”.
