When you want to create a most expensive something, the easiest way is to add some valuable material to it. The designers keep doing it to our house hold gadgets and products but it seems even chefs have joined the most expensive game. Celebrity chef Martin Blunos has created a cheese sandwich that is touted to be the most expensive in the world.
The Michelin-starred chef has handcrafted the £111 cheese sandwich using cheddar blended with expensive white truffles. The snack, unveiled at the Frome cheese show in Somerset, comes dressed with 100-year-old balsamic vinegar and £5 sourdough bread. The snack is served with gold dust but the thing that makes it so expensive is the truffle it is served with which costs £92.
Every ingredient that goes into making the sandwich is the best that is available. Extra virgin olive, layered cheese, slices of quail’s egg, heirloom black tomato, epicure apple and fresh figs. Blunos collaborated with Pilgrim’s Choice for the special white truffle blend. The white truffle fuses beautifully with the West Country Farmhouse Cheddar and the edible gold leaf. Blunos and Pilgrims Choice are hyping that their royal price tag will get them a mention in the Guinness Book of World Records.
