St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Offered $2 Million for Windows

From the times immemorial, Churches have always been places where art was showcased and that is perhaps why even to this day churches are some of the best art galleries in the world. The amount of ancient art that is present in the walls and other places of Churches could be worth billions of dollars.

One such is the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Paterson, New Jersey which has been offered $2 million for 13 of its stained windows. Louis Tiffany and John La Farge had created these windows and they are known for their beauty and aesthetic appeal. Christie’s had estimated it to be around $1,260,000 and $1,930,000 but others estimate the windows to fetch $2,515,000.

Now the church has been given a deadline till April to decide if it wants to sell the windows. The costs would also include restoring the windows and the proceedings from the sale would go towards the social responsibilities of the Church. Churches have not been receiving a lot of money as the demographics have changed and there isn’t much donation coming in. It would be great if it fetched a lot of money.
