This trunk may look an old and rugged one. And does not look its best at the moment. Certainly something you may want to relegate to your vintage storehouse. But look close. It is the Malle Cabine trunk. While it is one of the finest examples of re-use and recycle, you can be assured the recycle bit is worth every penny you pay, and that you do so, in complete style. For, it is a Louis Vuitton trunk and a treat for any collector.
The exclusive Louis Vuitton Damier Trunk as it is called, is a rare piece at the moment available at Pullman Gallery in London. It dates back to as early as 1890 and sports features in the rare Damier pattern. The trunk also has brass handles and a leather covering. If you have a taste for all things classic and have the money to spare, go for this, as it has been apparently restored to its original condition, despite the stains you may notice in the picture.
It may not be the best of favourites for a contemporary adventure seeking backpacker, but is surely a vintage luggage item for history’s sake.
The cabin trunk however comes at a princely price of $11,000.
