Souter Carbon Offset Design Presents Hybrid Yacht Design at Monaco Yacht Show

The Monaco Yacht Show always throws up some amazing concepts and design. This year was no different. The grand show that wrapped up this weekend in Monte Carlo also had some aquatic extravagances on display. The yachts are becoming more luxurious by the year with newer amenities being incorporated to the design. But the trend that is heartening is the eco friendly initiatives by the designers and manufacturers. Souter Carbon Offset Design had put forward the Emax E-Volution solar hybrid schooner which can be powered by the wind, the sun or a pair of engines running marine diesel.

The boat would be capable of reaching a top speed of 14 knots without a drop of diesel. But if you are in a hurry you can use the diesel engines and reach top speeds of 28 knots. Souter Carbon Offset Design is collaborating with Ned Ship Group of Switzerland to transform the concept into a real boat. The model hasn’t been built as yet but extensive research and development work has made the project feasible. Ned Ship spokesman Egon Faiss said the boat could be yours starting at €30 million which is just over $40 million.

You need not compromise on any of the luxury you might need on the boat but that would add to the cost of the yacht. The dimensions of the yacht would be fairly spacious. Apart from the master suite the yacht will feature six guest cabins. The boat will also feature a sun deck, pool, outdoor cinema, coat check room and wine storage area. There will be plenty of outdoor space for sun beds and bars. The solar panels embedded into the carbon fiber that makes up the boat’s surface will provide the energy for all the amenities onboard.
