Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal is the 19th richest man in the world and a Saudi Arabian royal billionaire. He is visiting Cyprus with his entourage for a private holiday. There was a bit of a problem as his 90 meter long luxury yacht proved to be too big for Latch’is tiny marina to accommodate. The yacht had to be left offshore but the Latchi police is using boats to cordon off the area around the yacht. The local police confirmed that they are taking every precaution to safeguard the royal and his guests.
A local businessman also confirmed that a new jetty had to be built on the beach so that the prince could use a 10 meter long boat to and back from his yacht. The prince is also using a helicopter to commute from his yacht. There is a lot of private security apart from the local police to ensure the Prince’s safety.
The prince has requested to keep his visit as low key as possible. There has been no official contact so far. Though there are rumours that he is in touch with the Cypriot high society as he intends to invest in the tourism industry on the island. The prince and his entourage are occupying 30 to 35 rooms and suites at the Anassa Hotel. The hotel refused to confirm.
