Presidential Service of Inca Rail is the Most Expensive Way of Going to Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu existed in a remote corner and was brought to the attention of the world by historian Hiram Bingham in 1911. It was so remote and so very difficult to access that only the very enthusiastic and those who were passionate about its historical relevance made the difficult journey to reach it. The ruins of Machu Picchu are relatively more accessible today because of the development in some infrastructure in the area. But it is still not a comfortable journey as beyond the entry point of Lima and Cusco there are no roads that lead you directly to the ruins.

The Wood Paneled Train Car Has a Private Balcony

The alternatives are all difficult to undertake. The simplest alternative is to walk a four day trek to the sight. In any case you have to walk part of the Inca Trail. There is a rail line available and it is possible to reach the base by train. The best part is that there is a luxury option offered by the railways. If you are willing to pay for it, you can go to Machu Picchu in style. The railways provide a wood-paneled train car that is attached to the train going to the base. It is a luxurious train car fit for the royalty and boasts of its own private balcony amongst many other amenities and features.

The Presidential Service will Cost You $10,000

The train will take you to Aguas Calientes which is the town just below Machu Picchu. Inca Rail calls its luxurious train car “Presidential Service” which is offered at a price of $10,000. It is by far the most luxurious way of getting to Mach Picchu. The Presidential train car boasts of its own bar, bathroom, panoramic windows, seating area and a private balcony as mentioned earlier. There are window shades to provide privacy to the elite guests. The expensive and premium service comes with an open bar, hors d’oeuvres and tea service. Above all it is a unique and unmatched experience that not many people have availed. The luxury train car can accommodate eight people and have to be booked at least 30 days in advance.
