Getting into the Guinness Book of World Records is always an incentive for those trying to create something which can claim to be the most expensive in its category. The Brockton Rox of Massachusetts from the Can-Am League are planning to create the most expensive hot dog that will sell for $80 and get a place in the record books. No, it is not using precious metal foils or leaves to boost the price but will surely be using truffles and caviar to take the hot dog into the most expensive league.
The most expensive hot dog will debut at the Campanelli Stadium concession stands starting on National Hot Dog Day, July 23. It is an important day for the Rox as they are scheduled to face the Newark Bears at 7.05pm. If you are lucky to be amongst the first 1,000 fans to walk through the gates on that day then Rox will also give you a free voucher for standard hot dogs from Kayem Hot Dogs and Calise Bakeries. You should hurry to the stadium on the 23rd if you don’t think that caviar goes well with a hot dog.
The Rox hot dog will be a half pound foot long all beef hot dog. It will be deep fried and rolled in truffle oil. It will be coated with porcini dust and sprinkled with white truffle shavings. Finally it will be topped with dollops of creme fraiche, caviar and fresh roe. The Rox hot dog to go with its most expensive tag will be served in a blini roll. It will take on the most expensive tag from the current holder of the record from the Foot Long Haute Dog which retails for $69 at Serendipity3 in New York City.
