The original campaigner against global warming, Dr. Roger Revelle’s oceanfront home up for sale

The La Jolla oceanfront home of Dr. Roger Revelle, the man who was the torch bearer of the campaign against global warming way back in 1957, the man who mentored Al Gore, the man who is now the main campaigner against CO2 emissions, is up for sale. This house has come up in the market after 80 years!

It is a 4,165 square foot home that was built in 1922 by Rex Clark. His daughter married Dr, Revelle, and that is how the house went into his hands. The house has been graced by renowned men like Eleanor Roosevelt, and several Nobel laureates. Revelle has been credited with bringing some great scientists to UCSD and making it into a hub for scientific research. The overall area of the property is 18,900 square feet, with beautiful gardens, a fishpond and a pool.

The main house has five bedrooms, a large living room complete with a fireplace, a dining room, a breakfast room, and also an office space. There is also a detached one bedroom guesthouse. The sandy beach is just 115 feet away from the main house, and one has a great view of the Pacific Ocean. It is up for sale for $14 million.
