Viscount David Linley who is the nephew of the Queen of England has established himself in the field of furniture design and creation. His latest creation is an incredible architectural writing desk which pays homage to one of Monaco’s most notable landmarks – the Monte Carlo Casino. The desk, as you can see in the photograph, features the famed Beaux Arts landmark as its central gallery, with stylized archways on either side, it bears marquetry detailing in various veneers representing the windows, columns, galleries and balusters of the casino.
The desk has been priced at around $100,000 and is perhaps the best example of the intricacy and precision of fine craftsmanship Linley has become known for. The main body of the desk is constructed in American walnut with inlays of Santos rosewood and sycamore, while the surface of the desk is covered in dark red leather. There are six hand carved figurines on the top. The desk also boasts of six secret drawers which are each opened by a different mechanism.
This desk will further promote The Monte Carlo Casino which had become famous worldwide after it was used as location for several of James Bond films – Never Say Never Again, GoldenEye, and of course Casino Royale.
