Adversity, sometimes, proves to be a blessing in disguise. When Debbie Davis was made redundant from a printing firm, she was shattered and did not know how to make ends meet. But she managed to turn it into an opportunity that has made her a millionaire in a relatively short span of time. After struggling for six months to find a suitable job Debbie paid £15 to sign up as an Avon representative to help pay the bills. And the rest as they say is history.
From being a sole seller she is now responsible for an 8,000 strong team and has achieved a turnover of about £9.3m since 2004. She was motivated by her initial success. In fact she was amazed when she sold £18,800 of products in three weeks and decided to recruit her partner Dave Carter, 42, to help. Last year the couple were crowned the Avon’s top earners for the fourth year running, having earned £300,000.
The best part is that the extraordinary success has not changed the level headed Debbie Davis. She has, no doubt shifted to a renovated luxury home and top of the range sports car but despite her changed lifestyle she continues to sell Avon products door-to-door near her Wearside home. She would definitely inspire a lot of women struggling to make a career.
