The Asia Top Gallery Hotel Art Fair This Year is Focused Towards New Collectors

The Asia Top Gallery Hotel Art Fair (AHAF) was able to get 70 of Asia’s premier art galleries to come with their best art pieces to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Hong Kong. This was the fifth edition of the exhibition and it focused on an introduction of pan-Asian art to the Hong Kong scene. The purpose was, primarily to create a familiarity between artist and viewer. Apparently it was able to address the new audience with its user friendliness.

The location was one of the best hotels in Hong Kong but it was definitely not one of those Champagne and caviar events. For a lot of the visitors it was their first art event. Some of them had never visited an art gallery before. The ambience and the experience was luxurious but the art pieces and prices were pitched towards new collectors.

The participating Korean artists were excited about the rising popularity of Korean art in Hong Kong and the surrounding Asian region. They attribute the trend to good quality and low prices. For the participating galleries too the event was the right platform to know each other and exchange information and ideas. For the first time, this year, the event got groups from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan on a guided tour. There were lectures organized by guest art specialists. It was a perfect event for new collectors hoping to learn the ropes in the art world.
