Tamara Mellon Set to Step Down from her Position in Jimmy Choo

Mr. Choo had sold his stake in his brand and the business way back in 2001. And exactly ten years later Tamara Mellon, the other co-founder of the brand and the brain behind the business is set to stand down from her position in the company. Jimmy Choo, the entire business along with the brand was sold to Labelux, the luxury firm, five months ago. At the time of the sale it was announced that Ms Mellon would stay back in a creative consultancy role along with the top management team.

In hindsight the arrangement seems to be temporary till the Jimmy Choo brand was integrated with the new company. The announcement, however has taken everyone by surprise and has raised more than a few eye brows in the industry. Labelux claims that the separation has been amicable and that Mellon who is basically an entrepreneur would go on to new things. As recently as last week Tamara Mellon was full of the coffee table book to be released, 15 Years of Jimmy Choo to celebrate fifteen years of the brand and its successful journey.

Labelux who has invested £525.5million to buy out Jimmy Cho apparently, has other plans for the brand and the industry experts feel that Jimmy Choo Ltd will witness a dramatic change of direction as part of a conglomerate. The brand could go totally mainstream and open up to a new set of followers in a more accessible sector of the market.Fashion observers will be waiting in earnest to see which way Jimmy Choo Ltd will swing. Watch this space for further developments with the luxury brand.
