Swarovski Crystals Sparkle During Glamorous Oscar Night

In case you were wondering who came up with the stunning set for the 83rd Academy Awards, credit should go to production designer Steve Bass who had some glittering tricks up his sleeve. He had Swarovski crystals placed prominently across the length and breadth of the auditorium at the Kodak Theatre. I suppose, when you have so many stars gathering in one place, it becomes necessary to bring on some additional bling. That is exactly what Bass and his team did,

Swarovski crystals were a major part of the circular stage piece where the winners accepted their Oscars. But there was also a long line of crystals shimmering along the path that the winners would have to take to reach the stage. In fact, Bass and his team adorned the Kodak Theatre with a staggering 55,000 Swarovski crystals. These were all flown in from the Swarovski headquarters in Austria. The stones came in 11 different shapes and sizes.

However, this is not the first time that Swarovski has added more glitter to the Oscars. Rather, this is the fourth time that the famous crystals have made an Oscar appearance. Bass put it simply when he said that they chose Swarovski because it does not get more glamorous than the Oscars and “nothing says glamour quite like Swarovski”.

This perfect pairing of Oscar night and Swarovski crystals was seen again during the Governor’s Ball. Some 10,000 crystals were used to create 250 strands of Swarovski crystal that shimmered through the night as award winners celebrated their newly-earned Oscars.
