The increase in demand for the premium seats on airlines, new products are being launched for the big-spending passengers. This week has seen the launch of new products from two major airlines. Hong Kong flag-carrier Cathay Pacific launched its new business class seat at a glittering event in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. The seat folds down into a flat bed offering more space than the existing business class cabins.
The airline calls it a passenger led design that allows him a view out of the window and gives him full control of the widescreen in flight entertainment system through a remote. The airline claims that the redesign offers a bed that is one of the longest and widest on any commercial airline. The new seats are scheduled to be installed on the long haul Boeing 777-300ER and A330-300s jets by February 2013.
Cathay Pacific isn’t the only airline trying to make its business-class passengers happy this week. Etihad launched its new lounge at Manchester Airport December 9, welcoming Manchester City Football Club manager Roberto Mancini as one of the first guests. The new 318 square meter lounge offers a business centre, a relaxation area, a family room for children and luxurious bathrooms and shower facilities.
