Steinway & Sons Unveil Limited Edition Piano for John Lennon’s 70th Birthday

Sometime back I had learned that fans were shocked to find Lady Gaga playing John Lennon’s piano, and they thought it was a sacrilege!

Well, I have had to laugh at those fans for weeks and I forgot the episode until I came across the Imagine Series Limited Edition piano created by Steinway & Sons for the 70th birthday of John Lennon. The piano is modelled after the white Steinway piano that Yoko Ono was given by John on her birthday in 1971. The desk of the piano comes with 4 of his original drawings incorporated. The price of the piano is not mentioned, and when price isn’t mentioned you could be sure that it is going to be really expensive.

If you are a Lennon fan and would choose to buy the piano, the proceedings would go towards The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus. I am not sure if Lady Gaga would be amused by the replicas selling for huge amounts. I am not really fond of Lady Gaga myself, but to think that a contemporary artist could sacrilege someone’s piano by touching it amounts to something heinous I can’t particularly articulate.
