Philippe Starck, French Designer, has devised two micro wind turbines for domestic use. They are called Revolutionair turbines, which have been made by Italy’s Pramac, after two years of research.
The turbines are made of transparent plastic. Made in the Tuscan city of Siena, the turbines can be fixed in your garden or on the roof. They have a 400W WT model with a power output of 400W and the helicoidal shaped 1 KW WT, that can generate power of 1 KW when the wind blows at 14 metres per second.
The biggest pro that these turbines sport is that they can be fixed at home. Aesthetically, they are pleasing. They suit mass production too. What more could one ask for, when the energy comes from a renewable resource! Prices for these turbines start at $ 3,515 and €3,500 respectively. This apart, installing a single turbine would cost between €1,000 and €2,000.
It means, that if a family needs three turbines, it would cost €12,500. The logic, is that families benefit similarly out of low electricity bills. Starck’s wind turbines are a set among the umpteen wind turbine makers flooding the market at the moment.
