Replica of Princess Diana’s Wedding Dress Expected to Fetch $104,403 at upcoming Auction

Princess Diana still retains her space in the memory of the people even 14 years after her tragic death in a road accident in Paris. The princess always looked stunning but her wedding day looks drew out the breaths from many. The iconic ivory silk and taffeta gown she wore that day is etched in the mind of the viewing public. A replica of her wedding dress and duplicate bridal shoes are set to be sold in an auction in London. Despite it’s not being the original the dress is expected to fetch a significant price of $104,403.

The gown or the replica has been created by designers David and Elizabeth Emmanuel. It was made for her Madame Tussauds wax work. The gown was commissioned by the princes herself. The dress was made using the same toile, fabrics and trimmings as the original. It is almost identical to the original except some minor variations. The antique Carrickmacross lace on the bodice front is similar but not identical and the train and veil are around a third of the length of the original.

The bridal shoes have been made by Clive Shilton. The shoes are adorned with mother of pearl sequins and seed pearl beads. The designers claim that the princess wore them for the final fitting and approved them. Two identical pairs were made and one pair has remained with the designer. The other pair is in the Althorp collection. The shoes are estimated to fetch $80,000. The auction called ‘A Passion for Fashion’ has been organized by the Kerry Taylor Auctions and is scheduled for November 29.
