Real Estate Prices in Rome’s Historic Centre are the Highest

For the expatriates Rome is La Citta Eterna. The areas surrounding the Spanish Steps match that description the best. The historic centre receives interest from buyers from around the world. A two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment owned by a noted Italian set designer is up for sale. The 1,840 square feet residence has been decorated by the designer owner himself. The apartment with built in high tech features and bold haute couture decor has been listed for $4.6 million.

The apartment boasts of a miniature waterfall in the living room. The walls are decorated with surrealist pop art. It has an open kitchen, a two-person shower in one of the bathrooms and slate floors throughout. The furnishings are mostly custom Fendi pieces. The master bedroom suite includes a hammam for four people and a Jacuzzi hot tub for two. Gruppo Sant’Angelo, the real estate and rental agency is handling the sale for the owner.

The agency is pleasantly surprised by the interest received from the US. The real estate in the City Centre was the least affected by the economic downturn as international buyers prop up the demand even during the lean periods. Paolo Leccese, founder and chief executive of the agency indicated that the prices have firmed up again and in exclusive areas of the city, like Piazza di Spagna or Piazza Navona, prices per square meter range from €16,000 to €22,000.
