If you don’t know what Prouna is, then let me tell you. It is a luxury brand of Hankook Chinaware, which is a 60 year old South Korean family business that has made exquisite bona china for people like Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Royal Doulton for many years. Now, due to the efforts of the Bahadorzadehs family, which belongs to Iran and trades in steel commodities, the beautiful table settings of Prouna will now be available to the American customers as well.
They came across the Prouna wares in 2008, and have been their distributers since then. Their showroom is currently in New York. But they will expand and have showrooms all over the country. The Prouna craftspersons discovered a way to stick Swarovski crystals into china. Some of the highlights of their collection includes the Diana and Adonis patterns. They have 24 karat gold rims and round and cabochon crystals arranged in geometric patterns. These sell for $885 for a five piece place setting.
Princess, at $995, is their most expensive pattern, and the design has a platinum web pattern, with clear round crystals studded over it. One would think that these dishes would definitely not be fit to be washed in a dishwasher, but they are infact dishwasher safe. And in case any of the crystals do come off, then they will replace it happily.
