Picasso is “coming” to NYC!

The Metropolitan Museum of Art (in the New York City) is paying tribute to Pablo Picasso by showcasing all his work, including the one named “The Actor” that was damaged but latter restored. The Spanish artist’s works include drawings, paintings, sculptures and ceramics.

The artist par excellence revolutionized European art with the avant-garde art movement in the 20th century, which consequently gave impetus to innovation in the art forms. This movement later inspired music and art in that era.

The exhibition is going to start from the 27th April 2010. The art collectors would be delighted to know that two of Picasso’s rare art pieces would be auctioned sometime in May. The two pieces are brought for the auction by the two auction powerhouses Sotheby and Christie.

Christie would offer “Nude, Green Leaves and Bust” which is expected to fetch $70 million to $90 million. The other one titled, “Femme au Chapeau, Buste” from Sotheby’s collection, would be sold on the 5th of May. “Femme au Chapeau, Buste” is said to have belonged to one of the sisters of the former President John F Kennedy. It’s estimated to earn $8 million to $12 million.
