Panasonic to release a new point-and-shoot camera Lumix DMC-FX75

There was a buzz about this camera a while back, and now we have more concrete info about the latest point-and-shoot camera by Panasonic. Called Lumix DMC-FX75, the camera, especially the lens, sure looks pretty neat, although the design doesn’t seem all too new.

Now a bit of the technical mumbo jumbo. The F/2.2 translates into more light on the sensor, which in turn leads to less resorting to high ISO, and shutter speeds. It is 14 megapixels, 24mm f/2.2-6.3 lens w/ 5x zoom, with 3.0″ LCD (at 320×240). It features HD video recording and a full touch-screen operation with touch focus. All of the features sound pretty good. It’s Intelligent Resolution Technology claims to take care of three areas: outlines, detailed texture areas, and soft gradation. All these are examined and enhanced automatically, removing any degradation that might have taken place while zooming or during high-sensitivity shooting. This way, the fuzzy edges are rectified.

For some reason they haven’t come out with the price or release date as yet, but one can safely say that the price range will be somewhere around $400, and the release date might be sometime around July. Let us see whether this one ‘clicks’ or not.
