Frank Gehry, the renowned architect is known for his innovative designs and has several striking structures under his belt. His first assignment in Asia is a 12 story residential building in Hong Kong. The project is nearing completion and is set to become the most prestigious address in Hong Kong. The project is located in a highly exclusive neighborhood, The Peak. It is spread on a 552 meter high mountain with panoramic views of Victoria Harbor. Called the Opus Hong Kong, the building has a visual appeal unmatched by any other urban tower.
Swire Properties is the developer of the residential building. It features ten single story apartments and two garden apartments spread over two levels. The apartments are large with 6,000 square feet of living space and balconies that offer stunning views of the city and the harbor. The rents in Hong Kong are already very high and an apartment of this size in the city would normally rent for around Hong Kong $400,000. The Opus Hong Kong is sure to set new records as the demand from the elite citizens of the city would be rather high for the limited number of apartments available for rent.
Both the exterior and the interior of the building is different and interesting. The structure looks like a reed swaying in the breeze. The balconies, and there are plenty of them have been designed like boat decks. The apartments have an open plan that flows around a central core. At the base of the building you have an array of artfully stacked stone planter boxes. In any case there is lush greenery around the site of the building.
