New Zealand is known more as a picturesque destination and you rarely hear of most expensive or over the top creations coming out of the country. But things are changing everywhere and the Kiwis don’t want to be left behind. One of the foremost shoe designers from New Zealand Kathryn Wilson has designed a shoe that will cost you $500,000. The Auckland based shoe designer collaborated with Sarah Hutchings of Orsini Fine Jewelry to create the shoe that brings her country in the race of most expensive items. Hutchings took up the project more as a work of art and painstakingly encrusted the shoe with over half a million dollar worth of white diamonds.
The Auction will Benefit Ronald McDonald House
It is hard work and requires a lot of patience. You also require a very high level of skill to set individual pieces of precious stones. The hard work seems to have paid off as the final result looks fascinating. The one off piece will be auctioned at Auckland during the launch of Wilson’s 2013 autumn/winter collection. The proceeds from the auction will benefit Ronald McDonald House, for which Wilson is an ambassador. In fact other artists like Henrietta Harris, Adrian Hailwood and Stella Castle are also supporting Wilson and have created their own interpretation of Wilson’s shoe. The most expensive dazzling shoe might not be suitable to wear but after all it is a fairy tale creation.
For Hutchings, Great Opportunity to Display Her Passion for Diamonds
It is something you can admire and the designer says that it appeals to the princess in her. During the exhibition and sale the high value shoe will be displayed in a Perspex box and will be watched over by two security guards. Hutchings has an affluent clientele and she is confident that some of them would definitely like to display it in their homes. The Auckland based jewelry designer is thrilled at what she has been able to create despite the bruised and bloody fingers. She loves shoes like any other woman but she had never imagined that she would get an opportunity to display her passion on a shoe.
