2012 will be the Chinese Year of the Dragon. Already, we are seeing a trickle of luxury products dedicated to the Dragon Year. One of the things that caught our eye was the Limited Edition Shanghai Tang for Nespresso Dragon Collection. We all know that the Chinese love their tea. But coffee is fast gaining in popularity. The Nespresso Dragon Collection that features collaboration with Chinese fashion house Shanghai Tang could be instrumental in winning over more wealthy fans for the humble coffee bean.
The Dragon Collection from Nespresso and Shanghai Tang comprises four units – the limited edition Shanghai Tang for Nespresso CitiZ Dragon Coffee Machine, a Ritual Cappuccino Dragon Cup Set, and two Dragon Capsule Holders, one with carved stone inlay work, the other with carved silver metal inlay work.
The CitiZ Coffee Machine has been a winner of the Red Dot Design Award. So in terms of design and technology it hardly gets better than this. This coffee machine is a stunner in two ways. One, it features Nespresso’s patented extraction and brewing system. Two, it has CitZ’s automatic standby mode.
The collaboration between Nespresso and Shanghai Tang took place with a view to celebrating the Chinese New Year in a new way. I am not sure how far a coffee machine would figure into the celebrations. But coffee lovers (especially those born in the Year of the Dragon) who adore Chinese designs would probably adore this premium coffee collection that fuses the flavors of the West with the patterns of the East.
