Morrell Wine Bar & Café also Launches Luxury Wine by Glass

The concept of ordering wine by the glass is not common and very often the option is not available. You either buy the bottle or skip it completely. But there are some luxury glass offerings available currently in New York City, for those who’d like a small taste of a wine that they might not want to buy at full bottle price.

Belinda Chang, the wine director of The Modern Restaurant in Manhattan loves “luxury wines by the glass.” The program offers the option of ordering luxury wines by the glass. Bar Boulud has had a similar program for some time now. There are new options coming up soon in New York.

On the 20th of September Morrell Wine Bar & Café, which is situated in the Rockefeller Center will launch its “Luxury” program and will offer some decidedly luxurious pours like 2005 Chateau Cos d’Estournel at $55 a glass (approximate retail bottle cost: $200), Krug Champagne for $38 and 2006 Marcassin Three Sisters Chardonnay for $42 a glass (last quoted auction price: $150 a bottle), among others. There is good news for those who would still buy a bottle of luxury wines. Landmarc Tribeca is offering 2002 Roederer Cristal for $200.
