Make-Up For Your Funeral Costs $700, Courtesy Illamasqua

We have seen glamour on the streets, in the theatres and on the runway. But glamour in a funeral coffin? That has got to be a first. A British make-up company has come up with a unique offer to make sure you get to your funeral in style. Cosmetics brand Illamasqua has announced a new professional make-up service to ensure that you reach your own lavish funeral as the quintessential glamour puss. Named “The Final Act of Self-Expression”, the new make-up service encourages people to take their final journey look a little more seriously. Illamasqua is known for its gothic looks and quirky, statement-making colors. If anything, Illamasqua seems a far cry from the usual dab of perfume and subtle swipe of lipstick that most families prefer for their deceased. The company is synonymous with goth chic – not your usual funeral look.

The Illamasqua blog says, “To wear the most fabulous make-up applied by a professionally trained make-up artist for your final journey is the ultimate statement of celebration.” This may seem a tad creepy to most of us, but Illamasqua has is not merely making this offer from out of the blue. The cosmetics brand has tied up with London-based funeral parlor Leverton & Sons. The professional funeral make-up service is part of a pre-arranged funeral package being offered at Leverton & Sons.

The funeral make-up package is available from July 2011 at Leverton & Sons. But at $700, it seems a tad pricey. But as the Illamasqua blog puts it, if you can have the best mahogany, lining and stallions as a tribute to a life well-lived, why should make-up be ignored?
