So much care goes into making a bottle of wine. Very often the wine is as old as you if not older and has to be handled with care and respect. You have to be even more careful when you are traveling with a collection of your bottles. Cordier Mestrezat Grands Crus has commissioned Louis Vuitton to create an exclusive carrying case. The custom made case can carry four bottles that are housed snugly in the case. The special creation by Louis Vuitton was on display at the Vinexpo, the world’s largest wine trade fair in Bordeaux.
The bottles in the case are indeed worthy of traveling first class. They come from the Grands Crus Classés. The 2008 vintage bottles were of Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Chateau Margaux, Chateau Mouton Rothschild and Chateau Haut-Brion. The carrying case is a limited edition creation and only three of these cases will be made. For such an exclusive case the price was not declared as it is not possible for anyone and everyone to acquire one of the three cases. The more accessible offer from the winemaker is a four Box Wine set that retails between €100 and €25,000.
Consumers are free to pick wines from its Epoque Collection, Club Elite and Grands Crus Classés wine labels. There is a cheaper alternative for the exclusive bag and can be purchased online. It is called a VinniBag. It is inflatable and suspends the bottle in an air cushion to isolate and immobilize the wine during transport. It costs $28 in the US and €25 in Europe. There is another cheaper option which has been mentioned by CNN, Appétit Magazine Singapore, and Fodor’s. It is basically a bubble wrap bag with vinyl covering and adhesive seals. A pack of three such bags is available for $9.99.
