It is Bill Gates who is identified with Microsoft and its success. But he was not the only one when the company was launched. Paul Allen is the co founder of the company who has never got his share of the limelight and credit. But his initiative in establishing the company has made him a very rich man. He was ranked 57th in the Forbes list of the world’s richest men, with a net worth of $13 billion. He recently did an interview with CBS News‘ Lesley Stahl for her “60 Minutes”.

As per the reputation of the show Paul also talks candidly about his luxurious lifestyle. He even takes Lesley Stahl along with her camera crew on a tour of his estate, yacht, space rocket, vintage warplanes and his very private submarine. He also shows off on the show his huge collection of rare guitars, including the original Stratocaster Jimi Hendrix used to play “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Woodstock. On the ’60 Minutes’ interview Paul also talks about his upcoming book “Idea Man: A Memoir by the Co-founder of Microsoft”. The book that has some critical passages about Bill Gates is scheduled to hit the stands this week.

Paul said on the interview that Gates was always driving people to work as hard as they possibly could. He used to yell a lot and Paul was at the receiving end most of the time. It took a lot to fight back in order to stand your ground. Paul also talks about the incident that hurt him the most. In 1982 he was diagnosed with cancer and around that time he overheard Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer talking about diluting Paul’s share in the company down to nothing. On 60 minutes you will see Paul Allen talking so candidly for the first time, particularly about his lavish lifestyle and his painful relationship with former business partner Bill Gates.
