Larry Ellison McLaren Fetches $3,575,000 at Auction

Larry Ellison, the Oracle boss’s 1995 McLaren F1 has been auctioned and the price that it has fetched is pretty good, The auction took place during the Pebble Beach weekend and fetched an impressive $3,575,000. The auctioning was done by Gooding & Company. Though the amount that this car fetched does not put it in the top slot of Gooding & Company’s previous sales but it does get it the fifth spot in the top money earners, which is not bad at all.

The top slot for Gooding & Company has been taken by 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider Competizione that was auctioned for $7,260,000. The McLaren is just 15 years old and cost only $970,000 when it was bought for the first time. The next youngest car was a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Speciale from 1969 and fetched just half the price of what the Larry Ellison car got.

McLaren if one of those rare cars out there from the nineties, or for that matter the last thirty years that can garner that kind of appreciation. Its not like Larry Ellison really needs all those Benjamins, but we hear that he is serious about it. Well well!
