Kempinski’s Stafford London at St. James’s Place has undergone a major renovation worth $10 million and it shows. The heritage hotel reopened for its guests in early May. Twenty-four of its 105 guestrooms and suites, along with the Stafford’s Main House common areas, have been redone extensively. The renovation exercise has resulted in a new restaurant called Lyttelton after Lord and Lady Lyttelton who were the notable residents of the luxury hotel in the 19th century. The menu at the new restaurant is different and unusual. It serves rustic British cuisine.
You may not find this kind of a menu in any of the luxury hotels in London. You can relish black pudding with poached duck egg, cep mushrooms, and deviled jus; lamb with mint sauce; elderflower jelly and Plymouth Gin sorbet; and warm spiced cake with salt caramel and honeycomb ice cream. The Lounge located adjacent to the restaurant is also new and has fireside seating and service for cocktails, breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea.
The modern new additions and renovations have not affected the traditional classic features of the hotel including the American Bar, with its outdoor heated cigar lounge, as well as its 380-year-old working wine cellars. Stafford London, by Kempinski is the finest example of classic design meeting modern day luxury. The historic aura of the hotel is inspiring. The hotel also boasts of one of the most experienced concierge team who are dedicated to ensuring that every guest request is met. It could be a restaurant reservation or tickets to a sold out show or a private tour around London the concierge will always make it happen.
