Irvine Home Retains the Most Expensive Tag Despite Scaling Down the Asking Price

A newly built mansion at 28 Boulder View in Shady Canyon has become the most expensive Irvine house on the Multiple Listing Service in recent weeks. The asking price has been scaled down by a million now and is being handled by a new real estate agent. The mansion was originally listed for $18.9 million and was being handled by John McMonigle who is well known as a luxury home agent. However, he had to give up the listing after he filed for bankruptcy and is facing foreclosure on his headquarters and a villa he built in Newport Coast.

Rex McKown at Surterre is representing the seller now and it is under his advice that the asking price has been scaled down to $17.9 million. The Irvine house has a total built up area of 15,002 square foot and has been designed by noted architect Brion Jeannette who has designed many high end properties including the oceanfront Portabello estate in Corona del Mar. Even at the scaled down price it is still the most expensive home listed in the city. The one acre lot on which the mansion is built is situated on the rim of the golf course which affords it sweeping views of green space.

The six bedroom mansion boasts of an expansive master suite with separate his and her bathrooms and closets. The kitchen features a French La Cornue range, a fireplace and flat screen TV. There is a separate Chef’s or caterer’s kitchen with a 6-burner Wolf range and Sub-Zero refrigerator. A 75 foot lap pool in the house is solar heated to 84 degrees or with a 4,000-BTU heater. The home also features a stadium-style tennis court and a full basket ball court. The custom cabinetry and high grade finishes in the house can match the best of hotels.
