Ian Fleming’s Car Up For Auction At Bonhams

James Bond is known for his cool cars. But I guess fiction is inspired by reality cause it seems that even the James Bond creator Ian Fleming had great taste and interest in cars as well! Surprise surprise! Well Bonhams is auctioning one of his cars. It is a 1962 AC Aceca Coupe. This auction will be part of the Goodwood Revival Sale that will be held in Sussex.

It was bought by the famous author from the Thames Ditton Factory on 14th August 1962, the year in which he finished The Spy Who Loved Me. This car is special also because it is just one of the only six Ford- powered Acecas, surviving today. Considering all this, the car has attracted a pretty impressive pre-sale estimate of £100,000 – £130,000. This sports car is a two seater, with dark blue exteriors and red leather interiors. The author kept this car for just a year, selling it in 1963.

It has changed hands several times since then, and came into the possession of Bonhams recently after being refurbished. Other cars in this auction include a vintage open-top Jaguar that was previously owned by Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. Then there is a 1953 Jaguar C-Type that is supposed to be the star of the show.
