You spend your summers on the hills, go to a famous holiday destination every 3 months, and plan a lavish vacation every year. But what about your pet? Does he too get to travel along or visit the new places as frequently? Well, with all the hassles that you face in an airline travel, exhaustive stay arrangements and traveling expenses of a pet, it seems quite a task. Yet, according to a survey conducted by petrelocation.com, 61% of the pet owners take their pet more than 80 km at least once a year. 38% of these are frequent travellers, taking their faithful companion with them once a month.
The pet lovers want to travel with their pets almost everywhere, but unfortunately the airline fee, hostile hotels and insufficient arrangements pose a big hurdle. Following which 71% of respondents had never been able to travel internationally with their pets. Though times are changing for the better as there have been a few efforts made towards making pet travel easier. In April 2009, “Pet Airways†launched pet-only flights between five US cities. Also, Fairmont, chain of hotels recently launched a “canine ambassador†programme letting guests walk a “hotel dog†in case they missed theirs too much. These efforts have been much appreciated but are not enough.
Considering the emotional bond that an owner shares with his pet, travel companies should soon come up with innovative holiday plans at reasonable prices. So that pet owners can enjoy the perfect vacation with their loved one.
