Heuer Monaco Goes for £48,000 at Bonhams to Create a New Record for the Watch

It is a special year for TAG Heuer who has been amongst the leaders of the watch industry for 150 years now. The luxury Auto industry veteran Arno Haslinger has come together with TAG Heuer to celebrate the occasion. He assembled for them a collection of watches that were sold through auction at Bonhams. The Haslinger Collection was a hit at the auction if you go by the prices some of pieces commanded which were double or even triple of the pre sale estimate.

A 1974 Heuer Monaco similar to the model made famous by the great Steve McQueen in Le Mans, was knocked down for £48,000 after fierce bidding at Bonhams’ sale of The Haslinger Collection. The pre sale estimate for the watch was only £10,000–£15,000. The price recorded was a new world record for the watch. Several other watches recorded good prices at the sale. Representatives from TAG Heuer present at the auction acquired seven pieces to complete their own collection as well.

A 1969 Autavia sold for £30,000, doubling the presale estimate of £10,000–£15,000. An 18ct gold 1972 Carrera which was said to be a favorite of model of Jack Heuer, went for a handsome £22,800. A unique Silverstone watch created by TAG Heuer for the auction, based on the newly relaunched Silverstone and incorporating the signature of Jack Heuer on the dial, sold for £12,000.
