I never thought that doll house could cost $10,000. But apparently they do, and especially if they are being gifted by the mining heiress Huguette Clark to her lawyer’s granddaughter. This is just one of the exorbitant gifts that have been showered upon Ms. Clark’s lawyer and accountant over the years. The thing is that Ms. Clark, the 104 year-old mining heiress has been admitted in a New York hospital for the past 20 years.
Her lawyer, Wallace Bock, and accountant, Irving Kamsler have kept her at a distance from her relatives and have been managing her $500 million fortune. Now two of Ms. Clark’s nieces and a nephew have asked a Manhattan judge to appoint a guardian who would take care of her personal and financial affairs. They also want these two advisers to be barred from contacting Ms. Clark. But a judge has recently ruled that Ms. Clark’s finances will continue to be handled by her advisers.
Over the question of the gifts such as the dollhouse, Mr. Bock said, “Over the years, Ms. Clark frequently made gifts of dolls or dollhouses to the children or grandchildren of her friends and employees.†And apparently $10,000 dollhouses aren’t as rare as one would have expected. The posh store, FAO Schwarz now owned by Toys “R†Us offers a “Make Your Own Dollhouse†program at the price of $10,000, where customers can build a 1:12 scale model of their home.
