Harrods is getting into the Christmas spirit already. They have planned a dazzling start for the season with the unveiling of Harrods Crystal Christmas window displays, featuring a sparkling “crystal forest”. The center piece of the department store’s Swarovski-sponsored window displays over the festive season would be a dress with a significant price tag of £230,000 which is almost $368,000. It is the most dazzling dress you might have ever seen as it has been embellished by over 150,000 Swarovski Elements crystals and could makr the perfect Christmas gift.
This is the best season to release such a dazzling dress. Ralph & Russo were asked to create this ultimate Swarovski gown. They are the masters of couture gowns worn on the red carpet that is talked about for days and weeks after the event. Stars like Angelina Jolie, Beyonce and Eva Longoria have graced the red carpet in gowns designed by Ralph & Russo more than once. Tamara Ralph, creative director of Ralph & Russo explained that the design of the gown has been inspired by the Twenties and its decadence. The idea was to create a show stopper that is intricate in design and glamorous in style.
One must admit that Ralph & Russo has come up to the challenge and created a masterpiece. Ralph admitted that it is the first time that they have used so many crystals for a dress. They have used a total of 152,000 crystals to embellish the gown. It was a painstaking process to put together the magnificent gown and it took hundreds of hours of man hour. Almost 25 couturiers were involved in hand making the glamorous dress. The final result has been worth it as it really set of the entire window display.
