Google Nexus One Smartphone: What Kinda Nexus Could It Actually Be?

If you were wondering which phone you could buy in order get rid of the existing one, you could stop for a minute and consider the newly launched Google Nexus One Smartphone. Google has just announced the phone and it is being touted as a superphone that would be “an exemplar of what’s possible”.

Now that is a really tall claim to make but we all know how Google has an inflated ego these days. With the new Android based smartphone, Google is entering the world of cellphones much to the discomfort of Microsoft, Apple, and many other cellphone manufacturers.

It weighs 4.6 ounces and measures 0.45-inches thick which makes it a rather light and useable cellphone. It also comes with some impressive features such as 3.7-inch, 480-by-800-pixel glass capacitive AMOLED touch screen, a next-generation 1-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, and Android 2.1. 5-megapixel auto-focus camera, LED flash and geotagging capability, 512MB of internal memory, and microSD slot are some of the other features.

Google claims the phone would support multiple applications running at the same time, and that it would also be easier to manufacture it fast and deliver to the market. Google Nexus One would cost $529.99 unlocked, or $179.99 with a T-Mobile 2 year service plan. I would say, if you belong to the Google cult, you could try it. However, if you are wary of Google’s indomitable power, think twice and do not allow them to conquer the mobile industry as well.
