Fly In Luxury On Korean Air’s A380 Airbus Between NYC And Seoul

Flying in luxury gets better still with the launch of Korean Air’s new A380 on the route between New York City and Seoul. This so-called “superjumbo” jet was to leave for Seoul from New York on 9 August and mark a new era in luxury flying.

Korean Air is only the seventh airline in the world to fly an A380 Airbus. However, while the A380 can accommodate up to 525 passengers. Korean Air will be carrying only 407 passengers along the Seoul-New York route. The reason for this is that Korean Air is looking to maximize the luxury quotient on the A380 and thereby ensuring a greater degree of spaciousness.

The new design Airbus from Korean Air carries 301 passengers in the economy class. On the upper business deck, there are 94 lie-flat sleeper seats. Additionally, this A380 also houses 12 first class suites.

But this jet has much more to offer. Fliers in the plane’s premium sector will have access to not one, not two, but three bars. At the back end of the upper business class deck stands the Celestial bar; at the front end is a self-service bar. Plus, there is a separate bar for the exclusive use of first-class passengers.

The Korean Air A380 Airbus also has on board a duty-free store – the first in the world. This store sells cosmetics, perfumes, accessories, liquor and more. These products are magnetized in a bid to guard against turbulence while airborne.

Throughout August, the A380 will be flying the Seoul-New York route on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. From September onwards it will become a daily service. However, Korean Air could soon see competition for its luxury Airbus, as rival Asiana Airlines is planning to purchase six A380s to fly to Europe and USA.
