One of the biggest names in luxury sports cars that give the drivers a unique exhilarating speed ride, Ferrari, has been the stuff of dreams for almost every youngster, who wishes to own a sports car. However, not everyone can own a Ferrari sports car, mainly due to the high price tags and the exclusivity of its clientele. Ferrari is well renowned for its bright red body color and the yellow galloping horse insignia. Now, a replica of the Ferrari 250GT Spyder California, that was used in the blockbuster Hollywood flick, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off†has apparently been sold off for $122,000 at an auction in Bonham, London.
The sale of the Ferrari 250GT Spyder California has even astonished the aution house officials, who had estimated the auction price for the vehicle to be between $45,000 to $60,000 as against double the price the replica got sold for. However, the Spyder California failed to become the top sale of the day, as this prestigious position was claimed by a 1938 SS Jaguar 2.5-liter Drophead Coupe, that went for $154,000.
Even with the traveling conditions still up to the mark in Europe, it did not stand in the way of the enthusiasts, who even went to the lengths of placing the bids over telephone. Many of the attendees were said to have overcome a lot of traveling hassles to mark their presence at the auction.
According to James Knight (International Managing Director, Bonhams Motorcar Department),
“We were pleased with the success of the sale despite transport problems, with our excellent team offering a good service to vendors and buyers alike. And we’re looking forward to our next sale in Monaco on 30th April.â€
