Milan is one of the fashion capitals of the world but it still lacked a great departmental store like the ones found in Paris, London and New York. The new departmental store Excelsior in Milan has been designed by Jean Nouvel and it looks inconspicuous next to a low end mall. It is well hidden ad there are no window displays. This woud make the store a lot more high end than you would imagine it to be. The store would feature brands like Dries Van Noten to Balmain, amazing restaurants and a great edgy florist Numero 9. The departmental store has been given the look of the former cinema which was housed there and Jean Nouvel has made sure that the salesgirls and salesmen would wear uniforms that reflect the culture of the place.
This surely is going to become one of the fashion Meccas of the world going by the looks of it. If you are not curious already, you should go ahead and fly to Milan in order to experience the chicness yourself.
