Duplex Penthouse Apartment in New York Connected with Helical Slide

Slides which were till now seen only in amusement parks have started making their way slowly into homes and offices. The Japanese architects Kazuki Nakamura and Kenichi Izuhara had created the “House with Slide” and the luxury holiday villa equipped with an amusement park sized water slide in Koh Samui, Thailand respectively. These are upscale residences and architects have ensured that living in them will be fun. Similar architectural experiment has been done in a luxury New York penthouse as well.

Phil Galfond, a professional poker player has a penthouse duplex apartment in Manhattan’s East Village which has been redone and redesigned by Turret Architects. They have put in a custom sculptural steel helical slide in the apartment combining both the floors. The top of the slide is placed on the upper floor near the office and it lands on the lower floor in the dining and living area. Made from high grade stainless steel the slide is 18 feet in height. It has been placed in an exclusively created double height space. Turrett Architects are known as experts in connecting smaller apartments together seamlessly to create a larger living space.

This two story duplex penthouse has also been converted into a perfect place for both work and play. The apartment also features an Italian made Rintal staircase and a private keyed elevator to move between floors. The apartment with a total living space of 2,400 square feet boasts of four bedrooms and four full bathrooms. The other highlight of the penthouse apartment are an 18-foot atrium, pool, a game room, private cabanas, fitness center and a garden on a common rooftop sundeck. The apartment has been listed in New York recently for an asking price of $4 million.
