Dragon Week NYC Organized for Wealthy Chinese Tourists

The impact of the Chinese Year of the Dragon is being felt as far as New York City where a Dragon Week NYC is being organized. A group of wealthy Chinese has been invited and is being given the luxury treatment including private fashion shows and designer mingling. The dragon Week is being organized by Affinity China which is a private network. It invites wealthy members for luxury lifestyle events and unique travel opportunities. The group attending the weeklong event consists of 70 tourists both from China and the United States.

The exclusive and private event kicked off on Sunday evening with a cocktail party at Yue-Sai Kan’s townhouse in Sutton Square. The party was attended by some important personalities including Bill Brobston, Victor Luis, Bruce Hoeksema and Luo Zilin, who competed for China in the 2011 Miss Universe pageant. Monday morning was the time for some designer mingling and the group received a private tour of J. Mendel’s atelier by Gilles Mendel. There was a cultural and musical side of the event as the group attended a performance by Chinese pianist Lang Lang in Montblanc on Madison Ave.

As the week progressed the affluent group of tourists got to attend a fashion show hosted by Bergdorf Goodman on Tuesday. The show was emceed by Linda Fargo. It was no mean fashion show as the spring/summer 2012 collections were showcased by some of the most important designers including Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Louboutin and Givenchy. The show was a great success and was followed by a cocktail party and dinnerwhich was attended by Oscar de la Renta, Diane von Furstenberg, Naeem Khan, Georgina Chapman, Keren Craig and Zac Posen.
