Now you need not be worried about what you will eat if you happen to visit moon. You can order a Domino’s pizza and you need not pay anything if they are unable to deliver within 30 minutes. You may ask how it is possible when NASA has to reschedule its plans of sending a manned flight to the moon. Domino’s Japan President, Scott K. Oelkers has it all worked out. He has even worked out the budget estimate for opening a store on the moon.
According to Mr. Oelkers this outer space initiative will cost approximately 1.6 trillion Yen which would be equivalent to $21 billion. About one third of the cost is dedicated to logistics as 15 trips by a rocket would be required to carry about 70 tons of construction materials and pizza-making equipment to the moon. They have managed to keep the costs down as they plan to make use of local resources where ever possible. Domino’s said it will keep costs down by using mineral deposits on the moon to make the concrete.
Domino’s is taking the lead as it anticipates the moon to become a growing market with more and more people living there. There would be astronauts stationed on the moon and then moon would have its own citizens over time. They have been working on this plan since last year but have not put a firm date as to when the store will come up on the moon. It has been 25 years since Domino’s first arrived in Japan. The plan is part of the anniversary celebrations. The event that was highlighted a lot was in December last year when the company paid one person Y2.5 million (£20,046) to work for one hour delivering pizzas.
